Airport and Transportation
Olbia Airport also known as Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport is the second largest in Sardinia. A modern airport with one terminal that has 40 check in desks and 10 boarding gates. In October 2019 the Airport joined a group of 250 airports that have earned a ACI Carbon Accreditation Level 2 which means they are an Airport that aims at reduction and sustainable management of atmospheric emissions. The airport is located 5km from the city centre and hosts many facilities including shops, restaurants, cafes and VIP lounges.
Transport to the town is easy with three options of bus, taxi and car hire. There are two lines from the local ARST buses that cover the airport to Downton and takes just 17 minutes. Bus 2 runs from the airport to Poltu Quadu and then onto Capolinea Base and then Bus 10 runs from the airport to Poltu Quada. Between the 2 buses they serve Monday to Sunday between 07:30 and 20:00. For your convenience taxis are located outside of the terminal building and take only 10 minutes to reach downtown Olbia. Please ensure the taxi metre is switched on for your own peace of mind. The best and most independent way to reach your destination is by booking Olbia Airport car hire. This will allow you to reach your hotel with ease but, also give you the freedom of exploring the island at your own pace. It's highly recommended in the Peak season you book all car hire in advance to avoid disappointment. Remember when booking car hire in advance generally you secure lower prices.
