Lanzarote Beach Caletón Blanco

Caletón Blanco

Charming coves of white sand and black lava rock dotted together makeup Caletón Blanco. It can be a little windy on the island's north, but it is great for those with smaller children, thanks to natural splash pools that appear with the sea tide.

Lanzarote Beach Papagayo Beach
Lanzarote Beach Papagayo Beach

Papagayo Beach

Nestled between lava rocks, Papagayo Beach is one of the most famous beaches and a must-visit on the island. White fine sand and crystal-clear waters make the beach perfect for those who like to sunbathe, swim, snorkel, or have a mid-morning or afternoon stroll during their relaxing days. The coast comprises a series of little beaches in a shell-like bay that creates calm waters. One to add to your Lanzarote sightseeing list.

Lanzarote Beach Playa de Famara
Lanzarote Beach Playa de Famara

Playa de Famara

Playa de Famara is backed by breathtaking cliffs on the northwest coast of the island. The beach is a mixture of fine sand and volcanic rock. The long beach can be fairly windy due to its location, which means the sea offers perfect waves for surfing — not recommended for those that can't swim.

Casa José Saramago

Casa José Saramago was the home of the famous Portuguese writer José Saramago who won the Nobel Prize in literature in 1998. The writer died in 2010, and his house became his refuge over the last years of his life. The place feels like it's been untouched since then, as if he still lives there. The library is particularly poignant and gives you a real sense of his life. This is a place not to be missed for all literary fans.

La Cueva de los Verdes

Four miles of Lava tubes make up La Cueva de los Verdes. These tubes were formed thousands of years ago with the eruption of Monte Corona. One mile of the caves, with their glorious colors and dynamic shapes, can be explored by visitors — such an interesting sight to see and one not to be missed.

Lanzarote Culture Lagomar Museum
Lanzarote Culture Lagomar Museum

Lagomar Museum

César Manrique and Jesús Soto, famous artists and architects, designed and built the famous Lagomar Museum. Built around a cliff of hardened lava rock, it appears the building just emerged from the volcanic crater. The interior boasts lava tube corridors and cave rooms. The architecture is very much like the theme of Arabian Nights. You should plan your visit over sunset to witness the amazing colors when the sunset paints the rocks red and creates a stunning sunset view.

Jameos Del Agua

Jameos Del Agua is a must-see on the island. A series of Lava caves where nature and humankind have come together to make the most picturesque area of the island. A park built in a cave with an underground lake home to blind crabs, a local species. The caves are where peace, quiet, harmony, and beauty prevail. The caves enjoy amazing acoustic features with amazing geological features. Home to a pristine water pool and the never-ending Atlántida tunnel. Another masterpiece by César Manrique and one to add to your Lanzarote to-do list.

Timanfaya National Park is the biggest attraction on the island. Five thousand hectares of volcanoes and stunning red and black lava fields on the island's west coast can easily be mistaken for an outer space landscape.
